The maanak lida is peanuts, and my feeling is that if you birth at home and then go to hospital to get the maanak, you are just cooperating with a very corrupt system, since you are awarding the hospital nearly 7000 shekel of the country's money (דמי ליודה של ביטוח לאומי)for filling out paperwork and a 5 minute pediatric exam of the baby. Every time a couple goes to hospital after homebirth to get their maanak, the hospital get's 7000 shekel, which you should have gotten to be able to pay for the midwife, a midwife assistant, a pediatrician to check the baby, and birth supplies. HEY HOMEBIRTHERS WAKE UP AND REVOLT AGAINST THIS HORRIFIC INJUSTICE! forget the stupid maanak lida and go for the whole big bundle which you deserve just as much as any women who births in hospital! Someone out there needs to take the initiative and get a group of you together and get legal support with Nashim Korot Laledet and sue Betuach Leumi for the money that you deserve!
