I used cloth diapers, just the plain squares with plastic underpants, and it was really fine and no big deal once you were organized. I had a pail of soapy water that I soaked them in, after flushing down the toilet the solids (had a pair of rubber gloves near the toilet and I rinsed the diaper into the toilet bowl while flushing). When the pail was full I put the diapers in the washing machine and then hung them to dry. Not so much work, much friendlier to the environment and saved lots of money. It's like everything else that is too easy. Painless births with epidurals and one in five women needing Cesarians. Fast food and everyone fat and fat kids and high cholesterol and heart disease. Fast disposable diapers and a polluted stinky environment. Nice plastic bags and containers for everything and our land full of plastic and waste overflowing. It's time we take charge and take off our blindfolds and see that what is fast and easy is not necessarily good for us and the world.
