Hi Meira. I would advise taking alfalfa pills with an herbal supplement to avoid having to take iron pills. Alfalfa (as well as other leafy green vegetables can help your body to build hemoglobin, the iron carrying component of your blood). I can give you a "recipe" for an herbal iron supplement from Aviva Jill Romm's book Naturally Healthy Babies and Children - I have heard of people having great results with it. I myself tried Ortis liquid iron and Solgar gentle Iron and they worked well for me. The recipe is as follows: Iron Tonic Syrup Yellow dock, 15 grams Dandelion root 15 grams boiling water, 1 liter Pour the boiling water over the herbs in a glass jar. Allow to seep for 4 to 8 hours. Strain the liquid and put in a small saucepan. Simmer until reduced to 3/4 c. of liquid. Ad 1/4 cup honey or honey and molasses. Cool completely - dosage is 1 - 2 Tablespoons for adults, 1 - 4 teaspoons for children.
Yogurt with live cultures helps to colonize the bowel with beneficial bacteria and reduce yeast infections. Good luck
