the problem with OPV is that around 2000-2004 the only people who got Polio in the US/Israel/Europe were due to the vaccine. Either people that got the vaccine and developed the disease or people that were in proximity to people who got the vaccine (since it an attenuated but live virus). This is the reason this vaccine was discontinued.
The IPV is considered very safe but as we see it cannot stop the spread of the virus.
I really don't understand why they don't give the IPV to all the adults... i think we and our parents are in higher risk ....
might be a financial decision.
