I agree with a lot of what has been written here and I also think that the best is for you to know what you want from your birth experience and how you would like it to flow. Once you know what you are wanting and feeling then I would suggest calling midwives and setting up meetings with them so you can get to know them and they can get to know you. In the end, listen to your intuition and go with what feels right for you.
I gave birth with Ilana Shemesh and I recommend her highly as a midwife. At the time, I didn't know of any midwives who did homebirth in Israel and I didn't know anyone who had given birth at home. I came across Ilana's details on this site and gave her a call. She was the first midwife I met with and after our first meeting she was also the last. I felt so comfortable with her (and also the fact that she lived so close to our home) it just felt right.
I don't know if you plan to do a course in preparation for your birth? But if you do I recommend AMY SHAPIRA. She is fantastic!.
Wishing you all the best for a most empowering experience!
